Should I question his honesty?
I met this man online, we chatted for a few weeks, and he was nice, so we decided to meet for dinner. He was a true gentleman and brought me flowers and diamond earrings. We have met a few times now and he’s always bringing me presents even though I have told him not to. He makes me accept them!
The things that are weird though are little things… His stories and background doesn’t match what he has told me online. It’s silly things! He first said he was 34 and now he says he’s 42, police officer became teacher, never married is now divorced etc. It’s things like that.
Should I question his honesty?
Well, yeah… I wouldn’t call lies of that magnitude “silly things”… He has been telling you gross lies since day one. This is not a great way to start any relationship. In addition, nobody buys a stranger diamond earrings. It just doesn’t happen…
Why would you accept such expensive gifts if you are not sure you want some sort of connection with him? He makes you take them? You can’t make people accept gifts…
I would thread very carefully. His lies and expensive gifts are not rational behaviour.
If you sense him being “strange” return the gifts and get the heck out.
